Entry 50 – Door Seals, Rubber Door Buffers

Door Seals

March 11, 2011 is a significant day, for it was the day that I finished disassembling the MKII! After removing a few rubber door seals, I was able to afix my home made car trollies to the frame of the car so that it could be moved around the garage and onto a trailer for delivery to the shop for chemical stripping, electro-coating and ultimately for painting.

As I have said before, my car had been resprayed the same old english white. When it was painted, it appears that new rubber door seals were added, but because the doors were not removed for this procedure, the new seals were cut and glued around the door hinges. When I do the job the seals will be replaced as original. Each door also has a small rubber door buffer at the rear lower corner. The last of these was removed at this time.
